Statistics and editorial rants
July 1st, 2009 | by snowman |So listening to one of the latest TWiT podcasts and having other various stats bouncing around in my noggin I decided to go a little off the beaten path and give you guys an opinionated and possibly biased view of the world through my eyes. I apologize if I offend or upset anyone but if you don’t like what is written or feel angry about it you have the god given right to leave now, stop reading, or by all means leave me a comment. Please do not slander or harass this site or associated sites, I hold all responsibility for what is published in this article.
First we will start off light with all the talk about the iPhone the palm pre and where verizon stands in the smart phone market. It is obvious that AT&T has gained much from their exclusivity agreement with apple. Thirty percent of iPhone users are new att customers. However, one of the biggest complaints is att’s network, in a recent study they were able to place last in both 3g speed as well as reliability which was a full thirty percent below others at sixty-eight percent. I don’t know about you but when I pay for something I expect it to work more than sixty-eight percent of the time. What if that other thirty-two percent of the time was when you desperately needed to send and email or file to would be helpless. One of the guests on the show found a way across the arid nearly no AT&T signal areas of A southwest by using a verizon myfi to provide signal to his iPhone and said that it would be amazing if he could just use verizons network all the time on his iPhone. Now don’t just cast that statement aside, take into consideration that this show is hosted by Leo Laporte and guests like John Dvorak, Gina Trapani, and Patrick Norton. So what’s left? We apparently won’t know until verizon returns fire at other carriers in q4 or q1 of next year and I don’t know about the rest of you my friends but I am almost salivating with anticipation. The only drawback is that all of the data plans are still obscenely priced.
The wrap up of the paragraph before leads me into the second half of my rant today, money and greed. In todays society and given the current economical situation home and abroad it would seem to me that we would all be looking for a way to save money while reducing our carbon footprint. I ask you this almost rhetorically, would you not take free energy? I personally could eliminate almost 400 dollars a month in cost simply by using wind or solar energy. We could solve slot of our nation’s and global issues by utilizing what is around us everyday. Imagine heating and cooling simply by moving recycled rain and gray water with a high eficiency electric motor powered by wind and solar. We have taken the utilites company almost completely out of the loop yet we all continue to shell out tons of money fir over priced necessities. I can not stand the fact thhat politicians and legislators say they are doing what’s best for me when what they say is best is putting me in debt. This is what happens when ten percent of the population controls ninety percent of the money and only pays twenty five perrcent of the taxes. Think about that, as a whole the improvished and middle class pay more in taxes by themselves than the wealthy do. They do things like sponsoring lobbyist so that solar, wind, and geothermal can’t effect their stranglehold on the American people. Take the oil companies for example and what they are doing. Unleaded fuel is expensive beyond belief but what is even more ridiculous is that diesel is even more expensive but is the byproduct of makig unleaded fuel. That’s right we are being charged an arm and a leg to put an industrial byproduct in our vehicles. I hope today that I have sparked some interest or atleast raised some eyebrows, the future is here and most are just ignoring it out of convenience. Wake up people stop being force fed by the American media owned by that ten percent I mentioned earlier and do something for yourself today.
Also want to apologize for any spelling or capitalization issues I have been doing all my poss from my Ipod
