New PS3 Unboxing
July 14th, 2009 | by snowman |Completely forgot to post yesterday and I apologize because I definitely had the time even if I had to make the post from my itouch. Over the weekend I received my warranty check for my ps3 and decided to look around for my best options. I ended up with an 80GB model that came bundled with Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 both games which I was considering getting anyway. So this was already a win win situation, other than the issues I am having with the third party warranty service. I proceeded to unbox and find that this model was manufactured in may meaning it had the newest nanometer processors. I was even more please after I hooked it for the first time. I was at a friends house so I did not have my hdmi cable however he was amazed at the fact that the standard definition hookup was almost on par with his component picture on the xbox360 (1st generation). After bringing it home and hooking it up hdmi and playing through a little bit of Killzone 2 I am absolutely no longer displeased with the loss of my ps2 compatibility. The picture on the newest model just absolutely blows me away. Now the downside, well the only downside so far that I have noticed with the console is that the fan is on par to be as loud as the 360, however they have opened the case significantly more for airflow.
Now for some back story on this unboxing. I unfortunately had an idiot attack and left a dvd on in the ps3 walked out the door and turned off the ac. Was a record heat for two days in a row in which both circumstances I did this. Because most dvd menus are just a looped video the ps3 thought it was continually being played and the inactivity timer never kicked in. So in a house that was already around ninety degrees the ps3 was running full bore. Two days of this, plus being set vertically which I know I should have never done, and then two days of sitting produced to me the YLOD. Called Sony and I was out of warranty and they wanted 150 bucks. Was down in the dumps until I remembered having purchased an extended warranty. A few short phone calls later and we are on our way to repair or replacement heaven. They called stating that it was unrepairable so I asked if I would be receiving my game back as well as the hard drive or at least the data. They stated they were shipping the entire unit back to me so I of course was excited at the idea of having two ps3’s at essentially buy one get one half off price and not having to build a media center pc. But alas this was not the issue after never receiving a phone call I proceeded to call them back and they stated that a supervisor would call me back in 24-48 business hours. It supposedly shipped June 30th I was informed on July 9th that this never happened and wasn’t going to. I have LOTS of game data on the hard drive as well as pictures of my first born on that hard drive. So here we are on July 14th still hearing a supervisor is not available they will call back within 24-48 business hours. So if anyone knows or has any tips on how to get asurion insurance to respond I would appreciate it.
..::UPDATE::..
Here are some pictures I apologize for the graininess but I took them in almost absolute dark I might get some better photos after work.

Uh… where are the pictures? How can you have an unboxing or a thread called unboxing without any pictures/1?!
why do you apologize for not posting EVERY SINGLE DAY? Don’t mean to bust your ballz, but I hve been readn’ this site for a lil bit and there seems to be other people that write too. Why not give them a chance ?? must you post everyday??

The reason for no pictures is that I usually use wordpress on my itouch or use my computer at work and my fiance also had the camera. To answer the second part of your comment I made a commitment to try and contribute something everyday to make up for the year or two of lurking I did. Also ghostshadow did not have the best of connectivity last week. Also just because I post everyday does not mean that no one else is welcome to. By all means I invite you to write some content and I would be more than happy to review it and publish it. This page is welcome to all things and we invite any and all to this site and I appreciate the comment.
