The Wood Turner

The Wood Turner from Elliott Forge on Vimeo.

This inspirational video shows Leo, a feller who hand turns wooden bowls and other objects on a foot powered lathe. These pieces of work are done by hand in the UK. It’s nice to see someone doing this type of craft manually because it seems like less and less people carve objects out of wood by hand nowadays. The true skill has nearly all been lost due to the convenience of technology, power tools, and today’s youth having no interest in what our grandfathers or great grandfathers did in their time. It’s a true testament that these old methods still churn quality products.

#todaysthrow: One Drop Code 2

One Drop Code 2 YoYo

One of my most used hashtags would probably have to be #todaysthrow. This tag is used in conjunction with pictures of YoYos on Instagram or Twitter. Usually these pictures consist of the YoYo that you are playing with on that day.  Most YoYoers have more than one YoYo, so it’s interesting to see what they are throwing on a semi-daily basis.

I thought it might be interesting to post some of these photos here.

MMORPG.com Giving Away Free Guild Wars 2 Trials.

Guild Wars 2 Trrial

MMORPG.com has been given a limited number of free trial keys for Guild Wars 2. If you have been curious about this MMO, then you might want to get in on this deal.  All you need to do is go to the MMORPG.com website and register an account. You will then be given a code to use on the Guild Wars website.  Register your nickname and download the game client. The client is available for Mac and PC.

The official trial doesn’t start until April 19th, 2013, but it would be a wise choice to get your code and client early. These things will go fast!  There are currently 10,191 codes left at the time of this post. I am sure they will be depleted by the time word spreads about this promotion.

So get to it! Slacker!

35mm – A Simplified Look at 35 Films in 2 Minutes.

35mm from we think things on Vimeo.

We think things, is a group of guys who run a motion graphics studio in Hamburg, Germany. They uploaded a video project to Vimeo about two years ago that is simply called, “35mm”.  The video, all done in motion graphics, is dedicated to the their favorite films. The video displays 35 movies from all time periods in 2 minutes.  It’s quite interesting how they managed to vivify the graphics in such a seamless way. It’s definitely worth the two minutes.

Welcome To The New Knox Ware!

Welcome to the new version of Knox Ware. I am pleased to finally draw the curtains open on this place once again. I am excited to start cranking out some great content for you all.

If you have visited this website before, then I am sure you have noticed that there have been some major changes, a new layout, logo design, and the lack of old content.  I have decided to take Knox Ware in somewhat of a new direction.  Don’t worry, I will cover some of the stuff we previously did, but I also want to cover a broader spectrum of content this time around.  I touched on photography, videos, graphics design, and the like on the previous site. I want to bring some of this content into full focus and discuss various mediums more in depth.

Some of the content I plan to cover; Motorcycles, Booze Reviews (bourbon / craft brew),  Photography, Independent media, Wet Shaving, Horror movies (maybe reviews?), Technology, Graphics design and artist spotlights, yoyoing, and more..

If you’re interested in the old content you can visit the archive here: Knox Ware Archive. I have deleted most of the lame-brain content like news and whatnot. I left the stuff that drew the most visits.  The new website will redirect google searches to the old archive if someone tries to visit certain links from there.

Hopefully you will like what’s in store for the latest revision of Knox Ware.
